Curing Your Garlic Breath

garlic breathThe only way to cure garlic breath is to not eat garlic.

This seems like a fairly obvious realization, but it’s also highly unrealistic. Not only is garlic amazingly wonderful for your health, it’s also delicious. There’s no way to stop people from eating garlic, so if we’re looking for a realistic answer, we need to find a way to cure the garlic breath caused by it. Fortunately, there are several at-home cures and over-the-counter remedies to take care of garlic breath.

First we will examine why garlic makes breath smell so bad. Garlic contains many sulfurous compounds. When consumed, these sulfurous compounds actually feed odor-causing bacteria in the mouth. By feeding the bacteria, it becomes more plentiful, and bad breath begins.

One of the most common treatments for garlic breath is parsley. Parsley has been known to counteract the bad garlic breath smell to a degree. In fact, if you notice, many recipes that have garlic also contain parsley.

An old Chinese remedy for curing garlic breath is to brush your teeth immediately following garlic consumption. After brushing your teeth, a swig of strong Chinese tea has been known to eliminate the bad breath.

Perhaps the most outrageous home remedy for garlic breath is to simply eat more garlic. Some doctor (and let me reiterate, SOME) believe that garlic cleans out your system entirely. They believe this includes the mouth as well as the rest of the body. This means, the more you eat garlic, the less of a garlic breath smell. Use this at your own discretion.

The search for curing garlic breath, some believe, is endless. You can try to reduce the smell of garlic breath, but the garlic substance will always work its way through your body’s system. As a matter of fact, garlic will seep through your pores as long as a day after consumption. Maybe garlic breath is better then “garlic body”.

If garlic breath is the worst thing you have to deal with in your lifetime, consider yourself lucky. The benefits of garlic far outweigh the cons. These home remedies may help you deal with the drawbacks of garlic breath a little better.

Sucking on a piece of lemon also gives some relief. It’s sour but it works.

This was an amusing, common sense article.
