When using food as a bad breath remedy, it is best to start with the basics. You should always eat a well-balanced diet. Not only is a well-balanced diet healthy for your body, it’s also healthy for your breath. It’s widely thought that the proper variety in your diet improves digestive function, and therefore leads to good breath.

Another food remedy for bad breath is the consumption of fibrous foods. As a matter of fact, it’s suggested that you decrease your animal protein consumption and replace it with foods high in fiber. Fibrous foods encourage quicker digestion. Meats tend to stick around in the digestion track, ridden with bacteria. This can lead to bad breath. The fiber food remedy will help remove this meat.

There are some specific food remedies that have been shown to prevent and eliminate bad breath. One of the most common methods is parsley. Parsley contains a natural breath freshener: chlorophyll. Add this to your recipes or merely chew on a sprig after meals.

Another specific food to use as a bad breath remedy is yogurt. Live-culture yogurt contains a bacteria called acidophilus. This bacteria does not cause bad breath, but actually restores intestinal bacteria balance. Some bacteria is actually helpful to your breath.

A nice supplement of vitamin C, or foods rich in vitamin C can also act as a remedy for bad breath. Vitamin C has been shown to fight against gum disease. Many times gum disease causes bad breath. This means that indirectly vitamin C prevents bad breath.

The old saying, ‘’We are what we eat” has never been more true. By watching the foods that go into our bodies, we can control the odors that come out. In many cases, bad breath can be cured by simple food remedies.
