More Reports That Food Can Help Bad Breath
An Oklahoma City television station, KOCO, recently reiterated some expert findings that some foods can help bad breath, creating an oral environment that discourages the growth of odor-causing bacteria.
Some offer a mechanical aid by cleaning the mouth as you eat — for example, crunchy foods such as apples and carrots.
Other foods ward off smelly bacteria by creating an acidic environment they don’t like, such as fruits rich in natural vitamin C, like blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe and oranges.
Yogurt also got the nod again for its ability to reduce concentrations of hydrogen sulfide in the mouth.
For the estimated one in three Americans who suffer from bad breath, this might be another reason to pack healthy foods in their lunch bag instead of driving through the fast food lane when it’s time to break for their midday meal.
